Park ideas as drafts, then promote them to a board when they are ready.
Drafts are light backlog items that live on the project, outside any board. A draft has a title, priority, owners, tags and comments, so an idea can be shaped and discussed before it becomes work. Templates save the shape of a card your team makes again and again.
How it works
- 1Add a draft from the project's Drafts page and file it in a bucket, such as Main or Next release.
- 2Shape it: set a priority, owners and tags, and talk it through in comments.
- 3Promote it when it is ready. It becomes a real card in the board's To do column.
- 4For repeat work, save a card template with its title, description, priority, estimate, owners, tags and sub-tasks, then start new cards from it.
Good to know
- Promotion is one way. A card never turns back into a draft; archive or trash it instead.
- A promoted card always lands in To do, so it enters the board through every rule.
- A board column can mirror a bucket, so dragging a draft onto the board promotes it.
- Duplicating a card copies its title, description and sub-tasks, with the sub-tasks unchecked.
Every due date is checked against its window, and sprints run on the calendar.
Projects and boards have a start and an end date, and every card's due date must fall inside them. A due date can carry a time of day when it matters. Sprint boards run in fixed-length sprints that start and close on their dates.
How it works
- 1Give the project and each board a date window. A due date outside it is refused, with the window named.
- 2On a sprint board, plan the next sprint from the Backlog. Day one of a sprint is planning day.
- 3The sprint starts on its start date and closes on its end date. Nobody has to press Start or Complete.
- 4At the end of day one the commitment is frozen, so the burndown and velocity measure against what was promised.
- 5Unfinished cards carry over to the next sprint on their own.
Good to know
- Sprint length is a board rule: the sprints on a board share one length.
- A sprint can have a points capacity. Adding work past it is refused.
- Adding work to a running sprint asks for a reason, so scope changes are on record.
- Days off in the workspace's working week don't count toward days left and don't move the burndown.
- When a board passes its end date, you decide: extend the date or close the board.
- Today means your workspace's today, set by its time zone.
